Hospital Indemnity Plan

Hospital Indemnity Plan

Overview

If you become injured or ill, or are hospitalized to deliver a baby, your health insurance will pay a portion of your costs. But no plan pays for everything. Your share of the hospital bill, including coinsurance, copays and deductibles could be costly—let alone the extra out-of-pocket expenses that might occur.

Tell Me More

The Aetna Hospital Indemnity plan pays cash benefits for covered hospital stays for an injury, illness, surgery, or to deliver a baby. It pays lumps sum benefits for an inpatient hospital admission and daily stays. It also pays benefits for inpatient substance abuse, mental illness and rehabilitative stays. The money can help offset the hospital bill, take care of day-to-day expenses, or pay for anything you need. Plus, this insurance offers these advantages:

  • You are guaranteed to be accepted into the plan with no medical questions or exam.
  • Pre-existing conditions are not excluded. (Please note that the hospitalization must occur after the coverage effective date for benefits to be paid.)
  • Flexibility to use the benefit money to address out-of-pocket-expenses like transportation and meals for family members, help with child care, or lost income from missing work.
  • Ability to keep your coverage if you leave your employer (with certain stipulations)
